ABOUT

SAD.jpg

The Sad Door Monster is a blog dedicated to the constructs of art and observations on passing that frontier from the first half of life into the second. The name was given to me by a rather remarkable five-year-old, certainly many years away from the threshold at which I find myself, but well on his way to finding more meaning in this world than I will uncover.

He provided the artwork above and it is a fitting addition to the work here as I had once upon a time asked him to draw a picture for me, that was only for me and the Sad Door Monster is what I was given.

The meaning behind the ideas of a five-year-old is elusive and their reasoning is curious. But somehow, this little picture represents what he sees in me and whether that is simply the result of a child’s imagination or some kind of message, I cannot say.
